Bringing a grey old decking to life.

Deckings always become grey if not treated with a decking oil. This needs to be done every year, sometimes a few times per year to keep it from drying out and loosing its colour. Here are some before and after photos from a home in Sandringham.

New pine a blond look.

When you have new pine flooring, it will be a very blond look with Bona's non- toxic and non yellowing Traffic HD polyuruthane.I really like the blond look of pine instead of that orange look you get with solvent based polyuruthane.

Here are some before and after shots of the difference. The orange, is old type solvent based polyuruthane and the blond look is the Bona Traffic HD satin polyuruthane.

This last photo is in a doorway where I stop . Here you can clearly see the difference between the 2 types of polyuruthane. The best thing is Bona's products are non - toxic so you can stay in the house.

A parquetry floor.

A table becomes a workdesk.

This old pine dining table was destin for the tip, berfore I suggested to renovate it. The owner and I came up with the idea to transform it to a work desk and a shelving. So the first thing was to cut it to desired size. Then sand and polish it to a smoth 100 grit before staining it with Bona's Dri Fast white stain. When I sand and polish tables or desks without staining I finish on 150 grit sandpaper and then with a 320 grit scoura. With staining one have to leave the grain open to let the stain soak in, therfor I don't sand finer than a 100 grit. After the staining was done I used Bona's Prime Intense and Traffic Matt finish to protect it. It's non toxic and non yellowing so it stays true to its original colour.
Here are some before and after shots.

Bona's new timber floor maintenance kit.

The new maintenance kit from Bona makes it realy easy to keep your timber floors clean. As it comes as a handy spraypole, you can clean and spray in one action one handed. It cleans tiles as well. You can use it dry for dust for a real quick clean when you don't want to drag out the vaccume cleaner. The benefint with this typ of cleaner is that you will never wet mop the floor as it gives out a fine mist. So there is no risk of the floor boards cupping or the parquetry pieces to lift, as can happen if to much water is used over a prolonged time. You can buy a concentrate wich you dilute with water from either me on 0424-530990 or you can order it from Ezy Floor products  in Melbourne on 03 9543 4399. Makes cleaning easy and quick.

Living in the house while sanding & polish.

It certainly is possible to stay in the house, while the sanding and polish is done with the Swedish floor products from Bona. The owners opted for the lowes VOC product wich happened to be the most wear resistant and fastest curing on the market. The product is called Bona Traffic HD and cures in 24 hrs so you can put the furnitures back after just a day. This is the 2nd level in a 3 storey townhouse where the owners lived  in the house while I sanded and polished this level.

Satin sheen level was used on this floor.

Getting the old house charme with second hand Baltic Pine

The people who did this extension wanted that old world charm of secondhand Baltic Pine. With new Pine you get a much lighter look and it sometimes doesn't match as well as 2:nd hand does. I recomended them a place called Hughs Renovators Paradise where you can find everything from a doorhandle, fireplaces, doors to flooring. It's at 17 Frankling st Huntingdale in Melbourne. The flooring is usually more expensive than new becouse of its rarity.

The room has a beautiful country feel to it. The floors where coated with Bona Traffic Matt finish. Here are some before and after shots.

New and old timber meet in an extention.

At this extension of a house the owners wanted to keep the original floor in the old part of the house. They decided to break the new section of the house by laying a different timber in the new part with a more contemporary look. This is the result when Baltic pine and Messmate meets up in a room. It was coated with Bona Traffic HD Satin finish. Some before and aftet shots.

Gardenvale Primary School hall.

I got the opportunity to sand and polish the Gardenvale Primary School hall and entrance thanks to Nikki Gaal who mentioned my name to the vice principal Julie Pitts. As a matter of fact that's how I get most of my work, through word of mouth. I'm glad they went with Bona's non toxic polyuruthane for the sake of the children. They choose Bona's Traffic HD extra matt finish as it's easy to maintain and has the lowest VOC of any polyuruthane coating. Of the many benefits using Bona's range of products, I think the fast curing (24hr) Traffic HD is the greatest, as this one allows you to use the floors quicker. The Bona Traffic HD is also 40% more wear resistant than the 'normal' Traffic making it the top of the line for use in schools, restaurants or any public place or home. As with any Bona products it brings out the 'natural timber look' as it doesn't change colour as some solvent based poyuruthane does. If you're after the strongest non toxic polyuruthane on the Australian market you can't go wrong with Bona Traffic HD. For more info please check out www.bona.net.au
